A Mythological film, Jai Santoshi Maa gave birth to a cult, 'Santoshi Maa'. So great was the film's impact on the god-fearing minds of Indians that people went into a frenzy worshipping the Goddess shown in the film, enacted by actress of yesteryears Anita Guha.

16 Fridays of worship, with a ban on sour and non-vegetarian food was what it took to please 'Santoshi Maata'. And whatever you could ask for, you got it. Any deviation irked the Goddess and she punished you adequately.
