Jodi No 1 has Govinda and Sanjay Dutt teaming after their not-too-impressive attempt at comedy in Haseena Maan Jayegi.
Yet both Chi Chi and Sanju make for an interesting cast ensemble. While one is a slick prankster with good sense of timing and humor, the other is an under-performer with his own peculiar ways to tickle a few funny bones.
The film is the story of two thieves, Sanjay Dutt and Govinda, and their misadventures as they set about to woo the rich girls Monica Bedi and
Twinkle Khanna. Shakti Kapoor plays the hilarious cop who wants to bring the notorious twosome under his baton, but the thieves always fool him.
Tired of living in rags the swindlers dream of riches and hatch plans to dupe the multi-millionaire father (Anupam Kher) of a simple and innocent girl (Monica Bedi) who is totally besotted by Dutt.
The guru of slipshod comedy Dhawan is again on familiar grounds and the storyline is aptly bristled with many comic moments and blunt edged humor. The hackneyed jokes and corny pranks still form the backbone of his main characters.
Produced By Pravin Shah, Jodi No1 has music by Anand Raj Anand and Himmesh Reshammiya. Wrapped up in a hectic six month schedule the film has considerable parts shot in Goa and Switzerland and about 32 massive sets erected solely for the purpose to can a few songs and action sequences.
