Gulzar’s prodigious daughter Meghna makes her directorial debut in “Filhaal” – a film that endeavors to explore the complexities of human relationships. It has the talented Tabu, lissome Sushmita, lesser known Sanjay Suri and rocker-turned-actor Palash Sen playing the lead roles.
Rewa(Tabu) and Sia(Sushmita) are childhood friends. Having known each other from the school days the two have deep love and respect for each other. Yet they have different aspirations from life.
While Sia is self-assured independent woman who wants to have a respectable
job and other sundry luxuries of life, Rewa on the other hand is an emotional woman who aspires to marry a guy and settle into familial bliss.
Rewa finds her ideal man in Dhruv (Sanjay Suri) marries him and sets about managing her domesticity. Sia however is not the least anxious about tying the knot as yet in spite of the fact that Saahil (Palash Sen) has proposed her countless times. Every time he proposes she would have a resolute no for an answer. Reason? She needed to settle down in her career before taking the marital plunge.
The film shows how Sia’s aspirations affect the life of those around her particularly Rewa and her family.
