Wah! Tera Kya Kehna tells the story of Raj Oberoi (Govinda), the pampered grandson of Krishna Oberoi (Shammi Kapoor), a big industrialist whose property his two notorious sons Dilip (Shakti Kapoor) and Ashish (Rana Jung Bahadur) want to grab.

Raj loses his mental balance in an accident and takes on the behavioral patterns of a child. Having lost a touch of his sanity Raj keeps playing pranks on Murari (Kadar Khan) who has been left in his care by his doting grandfather.

Raj’s

uncles and his cousin Vicky (Monish Behl) – who always stays in an inebriated state – see Raj’s mental illness as the appropriate opportunity to take over the entire wealth of Krishna Oberoi.

To this end they all gang up and sideline Raj by sending him off to Shimla, which is Murari’s hometown. In Raj’s absence the scheming relatives get rid of old Krishna Oberoi.

Meanwhile, Raj too goes missing after being struck by an avalanche in Shimla and the entire property is taken over by the rest of the Oberoi family.

Just when the baddies think that all is hunky dory, there enters into picture a mysterious Banne Khan (Govinda), a look alike of Raj.

Pretending to be Raj, Banne Khan comes along with his svelte nurse Salma (Raveena Tandon), and starts taking over the property and money. The schemers are outfoxed and many questions arise in their suspicious minds as to the true identity of Banne Khan.

Directed by Manoj Aggarwal, Wah! Tera Kya Kehna is an attempted laugh riot that relies heavily on slapstick comedy. The pranks seem to be forcibly put into the narrative and the humor is more crass rather than situational. Performances by Govinda and Raveena are top-notch but predictable.

The first half of the film is bristled with moments of blunt-edged humor and the story almost drags until the interval point (when Raj’s look-alike and Raveena Tandon enter the scene) after which the plot gathers some momentum.

However, film’s director falters and creates a muddle of characters that doesn’t seem to have any relevance to the basic plot. For instance, Rajat Bedi’s one-minute appearance and Ashish Vidyarthi’s two-scene appearance are sheer oddities in the otherwise flowing narrative.

Wah! Tera Kya Kehna will appeal to those who dig Govinda’s in-your-face comedy and ravishing Raveena’s beauty appeal.
