'Chor Machaye Shor'

Director David Dhawan’s latest film Chor Machaye Shor is inspired by the English flick ‘Blue Streak’ (starring Martin Lawrence). Like Dhawan’s previous films, the story of Chor Machaye Shor is devoid of logic and is interspersed with slapstick jokes that seem to surpass any sense and hilarity.

Bobby Deol plays a petty thief Sham who is on the run with a thirty crore diamond. When cops get too close to nab him, he hides the diamond in an under-construction building.

Cops

arrest Shaam and put him behind the bars for two years. After he is released from the prison the first thing Sham does is to go back to that construction site where he had hidden the diamond. To his utter shock, he finds out that the building has been converted to a police station.

Anyway, the indomitable Shaam decides to get his hands on the diamond. He enters the police station impersonating as inspector Ram. In the police station, he encounters inspector Ranjita (Bipasha Basu) who falls in love with him without ever suspecting that he is a thief.

For Ram getting the diamond is not easy, as he has to outfox the ACP Ranbir Singh (Paresh Rawal) and the psychotic and ever-suspicious Inspector Pande (Om Puri).
Besides these two, there is Kajal (Shilpa Shetty) the pampered daughter of ACP who keeps giving Ram a tough time.

And last but not the least is small-time goon Tito (Ashish Vidyarthi) who keeps switching from one avatar to another to dupe Ram and other cops.

In this mad rush for the valuable diamond who will his hands on the booty?

Chor Machaye Shor boasts of double roles by Bobby Deol, Paresh Rawal and Om Puri. Moreover, the film has Shekhar Suman in six different roles.

Bobby Deol shows his flair for comedy by convincingly playing a bumbling thief who is forced to become a police inspector in search of the 30 crore booty. On the other hand, both Bipasha and Shilpa seem wasted in roles that require them to do nothing more than exude oomph.

While Paresh Rawal’s polished performance surpasses the rest, Om Puri does grab attention with his maniacal portrayal of an over-obsessive cop. Shekhar Suman’s comedy (in his various avatars) is simply pathetic.

Still, Chor Machaye Shor makes for fun-filled viewing due to couple of enjoyable moments like the car chase in the first half, and the kidnapping of ACP (Paresh Rawal) in the second half. The film also has a fairly good share of gritty action sequences and chilling stunts.
