'Khakee'

Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Khakee is an intriguing thriller full of surprises. The director keeps the tension built up through out the movie with unexpected twists and turns that capture a viewer’s attentions completely. Another highlight of the movie is its electrifying action sequences.

One

such action sequence shows the cops fighting the baddies in a village fair, amidst hundreds of cattle. Another one is the train chase in the latter half of the movie. The director keeps on building the momentum until the pre-climax scene when the true identity of the villain's accomplice is exposed.

Amitabh Bachchan towers over other performers in a role that shows him as a police officer who has more failures to his credit than successes. He stands out in a number of scenes including his pre-interval argument with Akshay Kumar and the post interval sequence that shows his outburst at the police station, when he reminds the Officer Incharge of the duties of men in uniform.

Akshay Kumar too gels with his character of a brave and pragmatic cop who believes that the wheels of a system cannot move without a little bit of corruption. He really excels in the scene that shows his change of heart, when he decides to support Amitabh in the mission.

Ajay Devgan as usual breezes through his role with remarkable ease. Tusshar Kapoor on the other hand has not been given many dialogues in the movie, but he does command a respectable screen presence.

On the whole, Khakee is a hero-oriented film. Aishwarya Rai’s role in the movie is quite marginal but significant. Lara Dutta adds a little zing to the movie with her hot Aisa Jadoo number.
