Directed by Hriday Shetty, ‘Plan’ has a sufficient dose of all necessary ingredients – action, romance, comedy and a bit of sexual exposure too.
The
movie is based on a hilarious theme – four poor guys kidnapping an underworld don by mistake. Several situations in the film are genuinely comical – particularly when the four land up in the ‘red light area’ looking for Jai’s lost beloved. Another sequence that draws laughter is when the four find out who really is the man they have kidnapped for good ransom.
The film keeps you involved till the end of the first half but begins to drag in the latter half with the story meandering into personal romances of the heroes. While Sanjay Dutt-Priyanka Chopra romance is quite believable, but the affairs between Dino Morea and Sameera Reddy and also between Bikram Saluja and Payal Rohatgi hardly look credible.
Dutt deftly slips into the character of an underworld don as he always has. Playing mafia dons or a streetside tapori seems to be his forte. Ditto for Mahesh Manjrekar who in fact looks like some trigger-happy person.
Four other heroes just about manage to play their parts. Of the lot, the most convincing is Sanjay Suri. Even Dino Morea is not bad compare to Rohit Roy and Bikram Saluja.
Actresses in the movie appear only for the sake of having a few female characters in the story. Priyanka Chopra is passable and Sameera Reddy adds sufficient oomph to the otherwise chaste fare.
On the whole, ‘Plan’ is visually engaging and entertaining at times, but it goes haywire in the second half.
