Actor Rajat Kapoor, who played Preity Zinta's uncle in Dil Chahta Hai, turns to direction with his quirky little film 'Raghu Romeo'. The movie, made on a skimpy budget of little over one crore, is the story of a poor man in love with the image of a TV actress.
The leading role in the movie is enacted by Vijay Raaz who played the paan-eating tentwala in Mira Mair's 'Monsoon Wedding'.
In the movie Vijay Raaz plays Raghu, a 30-year-old waiter in a dance bar. A man for whom the line between reality and fiction is a bit blur, Raghu is head-over-heels in love with a TV actress Neetaji (Maria Goretti).
Neetaji is known for her role of a perfect onscreen bahu in a hit soap opera called 'Dard'. She has the image of a simple homely girl and an ideal Indian women with whom Raghu dreams of settling down even though she is not aware of his existence.
And then there is another interesting character of Sweety (Sadia Siddiqui), the bar dancer who is in love with Raghu.
The triangle completes with Anna the Don (Saurabh Shukla) who is in love with Sweety but cannot manage to get enough of her attention.
In this complicated cobweb of desires and longings, there is laughter, kidnappings and shootouts before the story draws to its climax.
