Protagonist Thomman (Rajan P. Dev) is a much-feared man in his village. He is an alcoholic. He can’t remain off booze. If he does, it drives him crazy! So, his sons ply him with liquor constantly to keep him from trouble-making.
Thomman has two sons. The elder son, Shivan (Mammootty) is a hot-tempered youth. He roughs up anyone who
annoys him.
The younger son, Sathyan (Lal) is good at heart, albeit with a crusty exterior. He is playful and full of pranks. The father and sons get on like a house on fire. And given their mercurial temper, their doings inevitably end up in brawls and spats!
Circumstances force them to leave their native place and settle in another village.
It is an entirely new setting for the quarrel-prone father and son team. The problems they encounter in the new village form the theme of the movie.
Reigning queen of Kannada silverscreen Laya plays the female lead in the movie, which has Sindhu Menon in a meaty cameo.
Veteran Shafi is the director of the movie lyrics of which have been penned by Kaithapram. Benny P. Nayarambalam has written the story and screenplay.
If the Kollywood buzz is any guide, Thommante Makkal will have a Vishu (April 14) release.
