'Jo Bole So Nihaal' No If, No But, Sirf Jatt

Daredevil actions and aggression are Sunny Deol’s forte. But in Jo Bole So Nihaal the actor shows his flair for comedy too.

A constable from Punjab goes to New York to catch a dreaded criminal. The trail takes him through many dangerous and humorous situations. Sunny Deol’s latest release Jo Bole So Nihaal packs comedy and action in an entertaining story.

The

film is directed by Rahul Rawail who has made many movies with Sunny in the past. But this is the first time when comedy has taken a considerable footage in their film. The movie begins on a fast note and keeps a viewer gripped in the first half. The latter half becomes a little too predictable and the climax is stretched more than it ought have been.

STORY:

Nihaal Singh (Sunny) is an honorable, duty-bound constable in the village of Moga in Punjab.

A mercenary named Romeo (Kamaal Khan), whose sole aim is to spread terror throughout the world, uses Nihaal’s gullibility. Unknowingly, Nihaal helps Romeo escape the clutches of law.

While Romeo manages to flee the country, Nihaal is branded as a traitor. He is suspended from his job and loses his honor in the eyes of the folks in his village.

Meanwhile, Romeo moves to New York where he plans to unleash terror and assassinate the very President of the USA.

The FBI gets the wind of Romeo’s terror plans. But they can’t nab him because they don’t know what he looks like. It seems that the only man who has seen Romeo is a Sikh jatt from Punjab.

An SOS to Punjab and our Nihaal Singh is headed to New York. To the FBI’s request of identifying Romeo, Nihaal Singh has one condition: After catching Romeo he will take him back to Punjab to clear his name and get back his honor. Nihaal is a determined Jatt who is hell-bent on catching Romeo, whether FBI supports him or not.

Sunny Deol deserves credit for bringing some newness in his acting. We have seen his hollering acts umpteen times (and Jo Bole So Nihaal is not without them), but what makes this performance commendable is an equal mellowness that reflects in his character.

Kamaal Khan does not know how to act. He can only look good and that is what he does in this film. His portrayal of a most-wanted terrorist is without the intensity, the angst and the venom that such a character ought to have. He is like a chocolate boy dressed in cowboy clothes.

Jo Bole So Nihaal is not an exceptional film. But it is certainly a heart-warming entertainer with good doses of adrenalin stirring action. The comedy in the movie is effective, thanks to the witty dialogues by Sanjay Chhel.

The second half of the movie and its climax can raise a few ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’. But when Sunny Deol gets going at full hilt, then ‘No if, no but, sirf jatt’
