Critic-turned-filmmaker Khalid Mohammad returns with yet another women-centric film Silsilay. The film is produced by Vashu Bhagnani and has music by Himesh Reshammiya.
The movie tells the story of three women and their transient relationships with the men in their lives. Tabu, Bhumika Chawla and Riya Sen play the main roles. Kay Kay Menon, Rahul Bose and Jimmy Shergill are paired with them.
Celina Jaitley, Ashmit Patel, Divya Dutta and Nataasha appear in supporting roles.
Tabu plays the role of Rehana, a housewife whose marriage is slowly running dry because her husband (Kay Kay Menon) is seeing another woman (Celina Jaitley). At first, Rehana remains silent,
but then she realizes that she must confront the truth to overcome her grief and loneliness.
Bhumika Chawla plays Zia, a young starlet who is in a live-in relationship with the man who has shaped her career and her personality. However, Zia’s relationship with her mentor (Rahul Bose) is on the brink of breaking up.
Riya Sen plays Anushka, a receptionist who is looking forward to have a tender relationship with a rich suitor. She is unaware that one of her office colleagues (Jimmy Shergill) loves her secretly.
Silsilay weaves together the strands of three different stories into a single thread. The movie explores human emotions like love, pain, separation and hope.
