Dass is a film to watch out for. It deals with an inter-caste love affair. Trodden ground, you might say. True. But Dass boasts of a powerful screenplay from the prolific pen of Babu Yogeswaran.
The screenplay packs quite a few surprises, it is said. Babu, it may be mentioned, is the scriptwriter of the immensely popular TV serial
Annamalai. Incidentally, he is the director of Dass too.
The film is produced for Lakshmi Movie makers by K. Muralidharan, V Swaminathan and G. Venugopal.
The protagonist (played by Jayam Ravi), is a Christian, who falls in love with a Hindu girl (Renuka Menon). The lovers find themselves taking refuge in a Muslim household. Secular stuff well and truly! The plot starts thickening then.
The film, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, chronicles the trials and tribulations encountered by the young lovers. The path of true love is never smooth. Will the lovers unite in the end? Wait and see.
Others in the cast are Salim Ghose, Vadivelu – who gives the comedy angle – and Monika.
Hero Jayam Ravi has a few hits to his credit, including M.Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi. He is doing another film Mazhai, which is the Tamil remake of the highly successful Telugu flick, Varsham.
The film, fast in the making, is slated for an early release.
