Malayalam actor Dileep seems to be following the dictum of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru that success seldom goes to the timid. So, Dileep has dared to be different!

His last daring attempt -- releasing his film Pandippada on July 4, his birthday -- was crowned with success. All his films released on July 4 have been hits. The gamble paid off again. It remains to be seen whether his latest shy at success will fructify.

This time around, Dileep

alias Gopalakrishna Pillai will play Radhakrishnan who has been brought up by his grandmother and mother as a girl. No wonder Radha retains feminine qualities. The problems he faces later in life as a result form the substance of the story of Chaandupottu.

Dileep's favourite, Lal Jose, is the director of the film, which will be released on August 26. Again a shrewd move by Dileep because the first week of September will see the release of two movies of megastars Mammootty and Mohanlal. To avert a clash with the megastars, Dileep timed the release of Chaandupottu a week earlier so that he gets a headstart in the box office battle.

Lal Creations are the producers of the film while Vidyasagar is the music composer. Vayalar Saratchandra Varma has penned the lyrics.

Dileep will have two heroines, Gopika and Bhavana. This is Gopika's first film with Dileep. Chaandupottu was shot mostly on the seashores near Alleppey, Pondicherry and Goa. In fact, both Dileep and Gopika had a miraculous escape while shooting for the film near the seashore in Alleppey. Both were carried away by a huge wave but brought back by another to the relief of the shocked crew!

The cast includes, among others, Lal, Biju Menon Rajan.P.Dev and Salim Kumar.
