The movie’s story revolves around a Parsi family, the Sethnas. Naseeruddin Shah plays Dinshaw Sethna, a dope-smoking retired sculptor living with his wife Katy (Dimple Kapadia) in
the secluded hills of Panchgani.
Saif Ali Khan plays Cyrus Mistry, who comes into Dinshaw’s household as an apprentice but indulges in a relationship with his wife Katy during his stay there.
The other members of the Sethna family live in a dilapidated building in Mumbai. They are Dinshaw’s aged father Fardounjee Sethna, his brother Farokh (Boman Irani) and Farukh’s wife (Simone).
The story of ‘Being Cyrus’ brings to the fore the dysfunctional sides of the Sethna family. In the process, the bizarre shades of Cyrus’ personality are also revealed.
