Investigative thrillers and murder mysteries are director K. Madhu’s forte. The film that pitch-forked to the top was ‘CBI Diarykurippu’ featuring megastar Mammootty in the role of a CBI officer investigating a murder case. The film was a bumper hit.
Such was its popularity that the director and scriptwriter SN Swamy went on to make four more in the CBI serial. All of them did well at the box office, and K. Madhu became a director who specialized in investigative movies.
His latest flick, ‘Nadiya Kollapeta Rathri’ belongs to the same genre. The only difference is that, instead of Mammootty, this time around it is action hero Suresh Gopi who plays the protagonist.
The locale of ‘Nadiya Kollapeta Rathri’ is a train. The spotlight is on three murders aboard a train. The story is based on Agatha Christi’s ‘Murder on Orient Express’.
An Indian International shooter, Nadiya, gets murdered on the inaugural flight of a new train. Two more, noted danseuse Thulasimani, and ace reporter Shreya Mariya, also get bumped off on the train along with Nadiya.
As the initial investigations fail to resolve the murder mystery, the case is entrusted to top Railway Protection Force Officer, Sharafuddeen Taramasi IPS (played by Suresh Gopi).
While Kavya Madhavan essays the role of Nadiya, Suja Karthika is dancer Thulasimani.
The camera is cranked by the K. Madhyu loyalist, Anandakuttan and editing by P C Mohan.
The cast includes Siddique, Rajan P Dev, Shammy Thilakan, Niyas, Subair, Suresh Krishna, Vijayakumar, Suja Karthika, Urmila Unni and Poornima.
The film, which is close to being completed, is expected to release in July.
