View the Main Aisa Hi Hoon picture gallery Read the Main Aisa Hi Hoon movie review Album Review Soppy and clichéd By Aparajita Ghosh The music of a film ought to have melodies and tunes that convey the theme of its story or of the songs written to different situations. The music of Main Aisa Hi Hoon falls short of capturing its story’s essence, nor does it really embellish the songs to different situations. The album, composed by Himmesh Reshammiya, has a lullaby, a father-daughter song, a romantic song and a sad song etc... But only one (or two) of them makes any impression. Sameer’s lyrics are trite. Udit Narayan’s singing may be skilled but his style is very ‘sugary’ and mellow. Thereby, he simply makes even a finely written song superficial and soppy with his singing. That is what he does to the opening number Deewanapan Deewaange. The song is a typical romantic number with a melody that hardly sounds original. And when Narayan is at his ‘sugary’ best, it is hard to keep your finger off the forward button. It seems that the makers of this album were thoughtful of the sensibilities of good listeners of music. Because the second song featuring Udit Narayan Dil Mera Todo Naa has been kept as the closing number. When you forward the opening number, the latter too goes by conveniently on the flip side. ‘Just Walk Into My Life’ starts off well but then Reshammiya brings his typical touch into it. Shaan lends a popish flavor to the song while Sunidhi Chauhan tries to lift it at the fag end. All in vain… One song that evokes a feeling of nostalgia is Papa Mere Papa sung by baby Aparna and Shreya Ghosal with Sonu Nigam. The song is more like a conversation between a daughter and her father. The singing is pretty good and rightly brings out many emotions. A slightly different version of the song is repeated later. Another song that leaves an impact is the lullaby Raat Hai Soyi Soyi. Sameer’s well-thought words combined with Sonu Nigam’s singing and lilting melody by Reshammiya makes the song one of the best in the album. But then one song or two is not worth buying this album for.
