Garam Masala - Review - Songs - News
View the Garam Masala picture gallery Read the Garam Masala movie review Album Review Perky By Aparajita Ghosh Garam Masala is yet another comedy from Priyadarshan. The movie stars the filmmaker’s favourites Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. John Abraham will also show his flair for comedy in this film. The movie introduces three new girls – Neetu Chandran, Nargis and Daisy. It also stars Rimi Sen. The music of Garam Masala, composed by Pritam, is spicy, racy and youthful, befitting the movie’s theme. The lyrics by Samir are rather trite. The album begins on a high note with Ada, a bubbly track about guys chasing the girls. The music of this song has a generous dose of flute and drums. Sonu Nigam renders the number with full gusto. There is also a remix version of the song later in the album. The remix by DJ Suketu has the same melody but high tempo. The upbeat mood continues with singer Sukhwinder Singh bringing the house down in Chori Chori, a fusion-like number mixing western pop with Punjabi Bhangra. Hema Sardesai brings a hint of sensuousness in her vocals for this song while Sukhwinder moves up and down the musical octave with remarkable ease. The second version of this song by Labh Jajua aka Punjabi MC is peppier and contains elements of rap and reggae. The title song Kiss Me Baby…Garam Masala is plain in melody but high on masti. Adnan Sami tries to bring vivacity to this otherwise average composition by Pritam. Samir’s lyrics are funky but fail to make the required impact. The album nudges into romantic mood with Falak Dekhun by Sonu Nigam. The lyrics of the song (by Mayur Puri) are very mushy and Nigam’s pulpy singing further makes it superficial. Another version of the same song, sung by Udit Narayan, is no better. The rollicking mood of the album is concluded with the last song Dil Samundar that has singers K K and Sunidhi Chauhan showing their vocal skills to the hilt. The song has a catchy melody that stays with you even after a single hearing. On the whole, the music of Garam Masala is just like the movie’s title. It is perky, youthful and foot-savvy. But it has nothing exceptional to offer. Album Songs User Reviews :Garam Masala News | [an error occurred while processing this directive] |
