Drona - Review - Songs - News
View the Drona picture gallery Read the Drona movie review Album Review -Strictly Okay By Usha Lakra ‘Drona’ is a dream project on the lines of Indiana Jones by two friends – Goldie Behl and Abhishek Bachchan. The film doesn’t offer great music and limitations arise because of the concept of the film. The film, which is a fantasy-cum-history drama, has music by newcomer Dhruv Ghanekar who was part of duo musicians Ashu-Dhruv. Lyrics are by Vaibhav Modi. The first is the title track ‘Drona’. The song is in the voice of Dhruv himself, sung in a very unusual way and tone, narrating Drona’s journey. It’s an apt theme song resounding with foreboding effect announcing the coming of Drona. The female version is tagged as ‘Drona Redux’ rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan in her own stereotyped style. The second track ‘Bandagi’ is one of the best and the melody has the potential to be a romantic hit. A mesmerizing romantic number sung with passion by Roop Kumar Rathod and Sunidhi Chauhan. Her experiment with voice modulation for this song is awesome. A song which has the effect to soothe and calm you is mixed well with the classical overtone. The third in the list is ‘Khushi’ which is sung by Suzzane D'mello, Francois Castellino, Dean and Sunaina Gupta along with Shaan, who is the main singer. It is a conversational song with dialogues, which seems to be picturised on Abhishek Bachchan. An ordinary track with nothing much to offer. There is one lullaby in the album, ‘Nanhe nanhe’. It is a slow number and appears to be picturised on Jaya Bachchan, who plays a queen and mother of Drona. The track is like any other lullaby which has sleep inducing element in the vocals of Sadhna Sargam supported by Nandini Shrikar. Again a situational track. Last is the much-hyped item song picturised on Priyanka Chopra : ‘Oop Cha’, a track rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan and Nandini Shrikar. It’s a foot-tapping number but loses its appeal gradually. Priyanka is looking good but she is unable to lift the song. It is not even a situational track. The remix version is okay. The one track which is remarkably good is ‘Bandagi’. But just for one track music lovers can't afford to buy the album. Over all, the album appears very okay there is nothing exceptionally good and the album lacks the music to get with the film’s different theme, thus there is no scope of music to flourish.
