If you are expecting music of ‘Aa Dekhen Zara’ to be in the same league as the superhit track Aa dekhen zara of ‘80s then you will meet sheer disappointment. The music of the movie is less than average and two tracks by Pritam don’t do any good to the movie’s soundtrack.

The album features eight tracks. Music is by Gaurav Dasgupta while Pritam stays on the margins. Lyrics of the songs are mainly by Irshad Kamli and bunch of other lyricists like Syed Gulrez, Prashant, Avishek and Ravi.

It’s no joke redoing an RD Burman track and Pritam himself gave up giving a modern garb to the everlasting Aa Dekhen Zara . Eventually, it’s the other composer who had to adapt the song to modern setting.

The yesteryears hit number Aa Dekhen Zara gets two new versions with a simple remix and a lounge mix. Vocalised by Neil Nitin Mukesh himself, the remix version, like its original track, is full on energy and beats. Neil gets to test his singing skills with this song and has done a nice job. Supporting him on mike is singer Sunaina. Whereas, the lounge mix is a slow number, rendered passionately by Dibyendu Mukherjee. Both the tracks are just average with no special modulations or experiment.

The track Gazab Bhayo Rama has Pritam as composer. The song crooned by the power-pack duo Shaan and Sunidhi tries to rekindle the charm of disco era of ‘70s, but the music is just normal. Even its club remix is nothing unusual. Both the tracks are not magnetic enough to lure DJs as well as party animals.

The only song which is a bit romantic and typical of Bollywood is Mohabbat Apse in voice of Aakriti Kakkar. Pritam must have created this song in casual mood as the track is not exceptionally good but what makes it worth listening is Aakriti’s voice, but mind it, not in repeat mode.

Tracks Power and Power club mix are situational background numbers. In the voice of Dibyendu Mukherjee again, both the songs act as mere fillers in the album. The song Rock the party has an impressive start but this song, like others in the album, also fails to impress. However, Sunidhi Chauhan does impress you with her vocals.

‘Aa Dekhen Zara’ is being promoted as fast-paced musical thriller. But the insipid tunes of the songs don’t auger well for the genre, particularly in the movie’s publicity prior to release.

Now the makers have to rely on the cast as Neil Nitin Mukesh and Bipasha’s pair is already scorching the screen, quite evident in the trailers.

There is nothing worth mentioning about ‘Aa Dekhen Zara’ music however except two words – skip it.
