After a long gap Nadeem-Shravan in back in Bollywood music circuits. The duo had raised much expectations after their enjoyable tunes for Dhadkan and Kasoor. But they fall short of the expectations in their latest score for Ek Rishta.
Three or four songs in the album are shoddily composed and another handful of songs reminds us of the melodies of old songs.
The opening song by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik Dil Lagaane Ki Saza may latch onto some listeners’ fancy immediately. But the very next number Mohabbat Ne Mohabbat Ko isn’t rhythmic and the loud orchestration makes the tune obscure. The song simply passes muster.
Ek Dil Hai is slow and rhythmic, and melody line is impressive too. But it can’t be said to be new and original tune. Listening to this song, one instantly recalls the tune of old song Dil Mein Tujhe Bithake, Kar Loongi Mai Band Aankhen. Neither singer Kumar Sanu nor Sameer’s lyrics make the listeners happy in Hum Khush Huye.
Alka Yagnik impresses in Dil Deewana Dhoondta Hai. Ek Raja Hai Ek Rani Hai is easily the real draw on the flip side. Rendered by Mohammad Aziz, Anuradha Paudwal, Sarika Kapoor and Milind, it is a feel-good song. Its sad version sounds a bit too slushy.
Mulaqaat requires singer Alka to go very high pitch and then swooping down to the lower notes. She renders the song well.
Composing romantic melodies has always been Nadeem-Shravan’s forte. Some of their old compositions are still hummed. But their scores for Ek Rishta just passes muster.
