Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega ( Hindi Film Songs ,2001 )
Album Review By N K Deoshi
Vishal Bhardwaj proved his musical talent in the score for Gulzar’s “Maachis”, but he has failed to make it big in Bollywood so far.
His latest score for E. Niwas’ “Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega” has a wide range -- from the racy foot-tapping numbers to high voltage jugalbandi by the famous qawwal Farid Sabri.
The title song “Love Ke Liye (sala) Kuch Bhi Karega” is peppered with punches of youthful revelry from the duo singers Udit Narayan and Sunidhi Chauhan. The same mood pervades the following number “Aslam Bhai” which bears a close resemblance to “Kallu Mama” from “Satya”. Lyricist Abbas Tyrewala has penned a real tapori song but he goes a bit overboard with words like “chaddi” et al. The velvety-voiced Sonu Nigam has rendered it with zest.
Vishal’s command over melody is apparent in “Rama Rama”, a dance number with a steady pace and real vocal acrobatics by the Indipop diva Asha Bhosle. There is also a remix version embellished with some digital beats and Spanish samba. “Dil Mera Dil Hai Akela” is sung (by Udit Narayan) from the perspective of a wannabe Majnu looking for his Laila. Once again Abbas lends considerable zing to his words that however sound corny at times.
The composer has given a reggae touch to “Socho Kya Karogi”, a lively duet rendered impressively by Asha Bhosle and Indipopper KK. Then follows an interesting track (with an equally interesting title) “Love*Crime*Fun*Qawwali”. The song is a pot pourri of various musical styles from Rock, Disco to Qawwali rendered by Farid Sabri. There is also a touch of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” when the song transposes from highly charged qawwali into a rock ballad.
