Pop singer-turned-actor Lucky Ali will make his big screen debut opposite new comer Gauri Karnik in Tanuja Chandra’s next film “Sur-The Melody of Love.” The film is the story of love between a music teacher (played by Lucky) and his student (played by Gauri).
“Sur” being a musical film at the core, its music director M.M.Kreem has tried his best to compose catchy melodies that stand apart from the present techno-savvy popular film music. Nida Fazli’s lyrics are poetic and full of linguistic finesse.
The album opens with “Aa Bhi Jaa, Aa Bhi Jaa”, a romantic duet with some innovative vocal rendition by Lucky Ali. In the later part of the song the petite singer Sunidhi Chauhan joins Ali, and stands up to him.
Sunidhi again shows that she is a talented singer in-the-making in the solo number “Dil Mein Jagi Dhadkan”. The song is a low-tempo and touching number. Nida Fazli’s words convey the feelings of a girl who has fallen in love for the first time.
Then you have Lucky Ali almost pouring his heart out in “Khoya Hai Tune Jo”. Lucky’s voice inflection in the song is emotive, but it falls short at times of expressing the gist of Nida Fazli’s nostalgic lyrics.
The album also has a Latin hymn called “Ave Maria”. The hymn is sung by Marijke D’Souza and is rich in orchestration. The track is in Latino and reminds one of the choirs that are usually sung in Church congregations.
“Jaane Kya Dhoondta Hai” reminds one of the typical Lucky Ali songs from his album “Sunoh”. The song’s lyrics relate to a man who still hasn’t found what he is looking for.
Lastly, “Kabhie Shaam Dhale” has singer Mahalaxmi modulating her voice to the hilt. This song has heavy instrumentation from Kreem.
