The music of Kaizad Gustad’s ‘Boom’ has a mix of performances from Indian and International artistes. The songs in the album range from Bhangra pop and rap n’ reggae to fusion numbers from Sandeep Chowta. While some of the songs in the movie are original sound tracks, there are also international tracks that have been popular in the West.
If Bhangra pop is your weakness, then you might end up liking ‘Boom’s music. Apart from the hit number Mundian To Bach Ke by Punjabi MC, there is Jay Sean and Juggy D’s Nachna Tere Naal which has a delectable amalgamation of Bhangra beats with the techno sounds.
Another track that catches attention is 'I See You Baby' by Groove Armada. This foot-tapping song has an interesting combination of English and Punjabi lyrics – with the female singer crooning ‘I see you baby, shaking that ass’ and the Punjabi singer chumming in with Don’t touch me mainu kaindi.
The album also has something for the rap and reggae lovers. 'Nuttin Happen', a D'Caro number, has the hip-hop sound that gets you charged up to shake a leg on the dance floor.
Then there is also some good fusion numbers from Sandeep Chowta. Singer Sukhwinder Singh impresses with his vocal range and the emotive appeal in his voice with his rendition in ‘Dope the Pope’ while Sonu Kakkar is just about tolerable in the erotic number ‘Seduction Savariya.
Chowta’s talent as a composer, a music programmer and arranger comes to fore in ‘Two Dons and a Bitch’ and ‘Ramp-Age’ that has good vocal accompaniment from Somwya Raoh.
The album also features instrumental tracks like ‘It's Safe’ by D'Caro and ‘Bhavani Dayani’ by Jez Humble, that take a listener’s fancy after repeated hearings.
The titled track ‘Boom’ by Talvin Singh is a bit slow in tempo. However, there is another song ‘Zindabad’ by Talvin that stand out due to Ravi Singh’s 'sufiana andaaz' of singing.
On the whole ‘Boom’ features an interesting range of music. Although the sounds incorporated in the album are chiefly western, its music has the power to captivate a listener due to high-tech mixing and good studio work.
