Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav is an action comedy about three different characters Laloo, Prasad and Yadav and a female named Padmashree. The movie stars Sunil Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar, Johnny Lever and a newcomer Masumi Makhija in a very glamorous role.

Since the movie is a light-hearted comedy, its music too is peppy, pacy and carries a strong youthful feel. The songs are composed by different composers, some of who also wield the mike to show their vocal skills.

The title song Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav is composed and written by Nitin Raikwar. A heavy number with a mix of pop, fusion and hard rock sounds, the song is sung together by K.K., Vinod Rathod and Raikwar. This pot pouri of many musical styles and three different singers makes the song stodgy after a few hearings.

Sukhwinder Singh’s talent as a singer, songwriter and composer comes to fore in the opening track Deewana. A foot-tapping number shot on Sunil Shetty, this song is sensibly composed by Sukhwinder, who beautifully blends the elements of western and eastern music. His uninhibited singing style lends enormous power to this track.

Sukhwinder continues the upbeat mood with another of his composition Jadoo. The most impressive quality of this number is its beautifully generated sound and studio effects. The song is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan with some crooning from Sukhwinder too in the latter part.

Then comes the ‘frivolous’ number Chidiya Chidiya which reeks of musical rawness and amateur singing by Mahesh Manjrekar. The song, set to funny lyrics by Praveen Bhardwaj, is composed by Anand Raj Anand. A remix version of this song appears later in the album.

Anand Raj Anand comes fore as a better composer and a songwriter with the song Aaoonga Nahin Peeche Peeche. The melody of this song carries a strong flavor of RD Burman’s compositions from the 70’s. The song is a duet impressively sung by Abhijit and
Vaishali Samant.

In the end, comes another jazzy number Kabhi To Rooth Ja which is about a man hoping that his girlfriend would be upset with him one day so that he could use his tricks to impress her. Written and composed by Nitin Raikwar, the song is sung by Shaan who has modified his voice so much that he hardly sounds the his usual self.

What makes this entire album different is that perhaps for the first time the music composers have written, composed and even sung their numbers. The songs in the album are pure party material, and, when played loudly, do entice a listener to hit the dance floor.
