Monica Dogra Biography She is a powerhouse of talent. Monica Dogra is not only an actress but also a dancer and a singer. Her full name is Monica Sharma Dogra. Her mysterious looks and stunning screen appearance make her a versatile actress. She looks sexy with that flawless skin and dusky complexion. As a solo artist, Monica first made a guest appearance in the film Rock On! Monica Dogra is labeled as an Ambassador of 'The New India'. She is a Maryland raised musician, daughter of Kashmiri immigrants, who grew up listening to Hindu devotional songs, ghazals and the Bollywood hits of Lata Mangeshkar. After winning a competition at the age of 16, she debuted at Carnegie Hall and then went on to graduate from NYU's prestigious music performance program which catapulted her to appear in the New York Theater Circuit doing both plays and musicals. Monica then found herself in India, while recording a solo-project with Andre Bettes in New York City, the producer of Madonna's Immaculate Collection. It was there Monica Dogra met her music partner Randolph Correia, and formed the band Shaa'ir n func (S+F for short). S+F has been named one of India's favorite bands by VH1, and played at some of the biggest festivals in the worls, such as The Big Chill(UK), MIDEM (France), Glastonbury (UK), OYA (Norway), C/O POP (Germany), Indian Music Fest (Holland). S+F has written and released three albums in 4 short years of being formed. She has also been named one of India’s Most Beautiful Women 2010 by First City Magazine, A Chosen One by Elle Magazine, one of India’s Hot 100 by Maxim Magazine, and Hottest Front Woman of a Band by Blender India. Monica effortlessly played the character of Sai, a NRI who loves photography, in ‘Dhobi Ghat’. Lucky girl got her first break with director Kiran Rao and producer Aamir Khan. Like her character in the film 'Dhobi Ghat', Monica Dogra in her real life too is an NRI. When she visited Mumbai for the first time she fell in love with the city.
