Vijay Singh Biography An alumnus of St. Stephen’s College and Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, Singh migrated to France 24 years ago for a doctoral work at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris.
He has written for European publications like Le Monde Diplomatique, Liberation and Guardian. “But books remain my first love,” he said.
He has authored ‘La Nuit Poignardee’ (Flammarion, 1987), ‘Jaya Ganga, In Search of the River Goddess’ (Penguin, 1989), ‘Whirlpool of Shadows’ (Jonathan Cape, 1992) and ‘The River Goddess’ (Gallimard Jeunesse/Moonlight, 1994). He has also written and directed a play in 1976 adapted from ‘Waiting for Godot’ by Samuel Beckett and made a 30-inch film ‘Man and Elephant’ in 1989 for television channels.
