Genelia D’Souza was born to Jeanette and Neil D’Souza on 5th August. She studied in Mumbai. Genelia was first noticed for her Parker Pen commercial where she worked with Amitabh Bachchan. Before joining films she did various ads, the famous ones were ‘Fair And Lovely’ and Cricket World Cup 2003 ads. She was also a State level athlete and a National level Football player.
Genelia D’Souza debuted opposite Ritesh Deshmukh with movie ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ in the year 2003. In the same year she got a chance to work in Tamil film ‘Boys’ which was a superhit. Then there was no looking back for her and she went on to star in many Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films. She has won Telugu Filmfare Best Actress Award for ‘Bomarillu’ in the year 2006. But it was the success of ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ in 2008 that catapulted her to the big league in Bollywood.
