Another Bollywood potboiler with a woman-oriented theme is about to hit the turnstiles soon.
This one is called Aghaaz (The Beginning), produced by the renowned South Indian filmmaker Dr D Rama Naidu, who recently entered the Guinness Book of World Records for producing more than 100 films in five different languages - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Bengali.
Aghaaz is a remake of Naidu's Telugu film Savaih, and stars Sushmita Sen in a pivotal role. Ms Sen plays a tough incorruptible cop whose determination and sense of duty often gets her into tussles with the guys from the underworld.
Sushmita is admired by Sunil Shetty for her bravery but circumstances force him to desert her and marry Suman Ranganathan. However, the real test comes for the tough woman cop when she finds herself on the crossroads where she has to choose between her duty and her loved ones.
The film also has Namrata Shirodkar, Sharad Saxena, and debutante Shraddha Nigam in peripheral roles. Sharad Kapoor, after Josh, has got another plum role to prove his acting prowess.
The songs for the film have been shot in exotic locales of Malaysia, Australia and Switzerland.
The film also marks the directorial debut of Yogesh Ishwar who has earlier assisted Vidhu Vinod Chopra in canning Parinda and 1942 - A Love Story.
