A pelvic thrust and a toothy smile were enough to evoke adulations from the audience.
Govinda, famous for causing wrinkles in many a belly still retains his special place in the tinsel town.
However, with a spate of recent flops, his magic seems to have eroded a bit. The routine of a gaudily clad Govinda doling out slapstick did catch the fancy of movie buffs for a while, but the man has overdone it, with the result that a cinegoer now knows in advance what does a Govinda flick have in store for him.
The same, however, cannot be said of his forthcoming film Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rahta Hai, which promises to offer something different and fresh. Its music has already created the right buzz in the industry—particularly the song 'Kem che' becoming a favorite.
In the film, Govinda plays a village bumpkin who comes to the city to reunite with his rich parents and falls head-over-heels in love with Sonali Bendre.
The film is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, a sought after director after the success of Vaastav. And considering that it casts Govinda in a rustic role (much like Hero No. 1), expectations are running quite high.
