Tinselville took its time discovering Sonali Bendre. When Sonali embarked on her acting career in Bollywood she was tagged as being a jinx.
But now that she has a couple of hits in her kitty, people who had written her off are raving about her skills.
With consummate ease she portrayed the westernized gal in Satish Kaushik's Hamara Dil Aapke Pas Hai. In her latest release, Mahesh Manjrekar's Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rahta Hai she is looking every bit a typical rural beauty.
About the film Sonali gushes "I'm very exited about the film as it's been a long time since I worked with Govinda. Playing a village girl is something I have never done before and that is why my role was a challenge too".
In fact so impressed was Mahesh with Sonali that he has signed her for another film in which model Diwakar Pandit makes his silver screen debut. Recently she made a sensible move when without any ado she clinched the lead role in Mahesh's Tera Mera Saath Rahe opposite Ajay Devgan, that the hoity toity Sush had spurned thinking it didn’t give her much footage.
Earlier when Sonali teamed with Govinda in Aag the duo didn’t really scorch the silver screen. This time lets hope Jis Desh Mein.. sets the cash tills ringing and delineates a prospective career for her.
