Now when the hype surrounding Aditya Chopra's Mohabbatein is skyrocketing, here comes the sting in the tail that is likely to mar the film's reputation.
The film, it is being talked-about, is loosely based on Peter Weir's Dead Poet's Society which had in the lead cast Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles and Gale Hansen.
In Aditya's Mohabbatein Amitabh and Shah Rukh replace Williams and Leonard. While Amitabh plays the strict disciplinarian who doesn't believe in love, Shah Rukh plays the young lecturer who is admired by all students.
While there is no doubt that Aditya has brought about necessary changes in the film's content in order to give it a fresh look, at the core Mohabbatein is not an original story
It is, like umpteen other Bollywood movies, an embellishment of its Hollywood counterpart.
