However hard he may have tried, Shekhar Kapur's looks gave away the disappointment he was suffering for not getting an Oscar for his love labor Elizabeth.

The genius filmmaker left his country's shores to make a name abroad, only to return jilted. It is common amongst Indian filmmakers to dream of a Hollywood jaunt. Shekhar Kapur had the brains to push him further and he took up the task, not wanting to be an exception. He probably forgot that Satyajit Ray, Bimal Roy, Ritwik Ghatak, Guru Dutt and Raj Kapoor never made foreign films.

That Shekhar is a talented filmmaker was clear from Masoom and Mr India. Instead of giving his countrymen more of his visual delights, he chose to go abroad. Good enough for him. Indians are, in any ways, used to drain of brains. But there is a peculiar happiness in seeing Shekhar all inclined towards Indian films again.

In an interview, the director said " I plan to start Ta Ra Rum Pum shortly". Apart from starting the musical Shekhar has been planning for quite a while now, he is also open to exciting projects from producers.

Finally, Shekhar Kapur is back with baggage and the gain is absolutely of those Indians who loved his cinema made in and on the land. Whether it is Shekhar's newborn baby Kaveri or Indian films that has brought him here, we wouldn't know. We just rejoice the fact that he's here.
