Mahima Chowdhary's career took off to a galloping start with her debut film Pardes but, following a series of damp squibs, slowed down to a directionless trot.
In no time the spotlight shifted away from her. The only roles that came her way were the marginal ones.
But she is not the one to get bogged down by failures, certainly not the one to throw in the towel. Determined to forge ahead against all odds Mahima is all geared to make her place in the tinseltown. Despite the little footage she had in her previous flicks Dhadkan and Deewane she did manage to pack in performances deserving attention.
Her better voice modulation and expressive body language are convincing insinuations that talent has begun to sprout in this young starlet.
Today Mahima has slung on her tender shoulders a bagful of roles that offer her.
Tremendous scope to emote. She is pairing with the likes of Akshay Kumar (Khiladi No 420), Sunil Shetty (Maa Tujhe Salaam), Govinda (Mastana) and Dil Ke Aas Paas. She also has a plum role in Raj Kumar Santoshi's Lajja in which she has to contend with stalwarts like Rekha, Manisha Koirala and Madhuri Dixit.
In the offing is her film with Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Manjrekar's Kurukshetra which, in her words, "will mark a turning point" in her lagging film career. In the film she plays an ACP's (Sanjay Dutt's) wife Anjali, a devoted woman who stands aplomb shoulder to shoulder with her hubby throughout his trepidations and struggle against injustice.
