Luck has been tough on model-turned actress Anupama Verma who has been waiting for years to make her debut in tinseltown.
Unpredictable and strange is the way to stardom in Bollywood. While some get it all served on a platter others toil for years before they get their first break on the big screen. No one knows this better than Anupama Verma who is now better known as one of the longest standing debutantes in Bollywood.
An MBA, Anupama was already scorching the ramps by the time she came of age. A break as a VJ with channel V brought her to the city of arc lights Mumbai, where she soon clinched her first film offer that came from Jackie Shroff for his home production "Grahan". Little did she know that the road she had embarked upon was paved with flint-stones.
Soon after the film went on floors, the producer went bankrupt and "Grahan" was shelved for an indefinite time. Bound by contract, Anupama could not sign other films either. As the arc lights on "Grahan’s" went off a star got eclipsed before it could shine.
Thankfully now the eclipse has begun to lift and the rays of hope are shining bright. Not only is "Grahan" complete and ready for release at last, Anupama has got couple of other films in her kitty. Presently she is shooting for the film "Dil Ke Peechhe Peechhe" opposite another newcomer Abbas. A film with Sunil Shetty and another yet-to-be-titled film with TIPS is also in the pipeline.
Describing her role in "Grahan" as a non-glamorous one Anupama is glad that she will finally make it to the big screen. From ramps to arc lights it has been a rough ride for her. But Anupama has finally arrived.
