After five years of grueling struggle to make his place in the film industry Jimmy Shergill's life has taken an unexpected turn.
With the brief stint he played in Gulzar's "Maachis" Jimmy did garner some attention from film fraternity and soon bagged a plum role in "Jahan Tum Le Chalo".
Unfortunately for him the film fell flat at the turnstiles and Jimmy found himself back where he had started. Unable to find another good break Jimmy had almost thrown in the towel when lady luck smiled on him, and he got a side role in Aditya Chopra's "Mohabbatein".
Overshadowed by the seasoned performers like Amitabh and Shahrukh and flanked by a bevy of newcomers Jimmy accepts he was under tremendous pressure to make his presence felt. And despite however little footage he had in the film Jimmy did manage to raise a couple of brows.
Today Jimmy Shergill has every reason to be happy. For safely tucked under his belt he has not one but three films in which he plays the male lead. Firstly he replaced Govinda opposite Amisha Patel in Tanuja Chandra's next project "Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar". Then he will pair along with debutante Bhumika Singh in director S.V.Rajendra Singh's forthcoming venture. Beside he is gung-ho about having bagged Priyadarshan's next film, which will go on the floors next year.
Looks like Jimmy's lagging film career is finally gaining momentum. But just securing a handful of projects is not enough. Jimmy would have to prove himself if he wants to survive in this competition-ridden industry. After a long wait lady luck has smiled on him. If he doesn't latch on to this opportunity and deliver commendable performances, she may never smile on him again.
