Having bid adieu to arc lights, yesteryear legend Dilip Kumar is coming to fore in a new avatar.
Dilip Kumar, verily the doyen of acting in Hindi films, has inspired and influenced many actors of his age. Till today, many idolize him and see in him their mentor. Some unscrupulous ones even go to the extent of imitating his style of acting. Yet no one can re-do what the man has done.
We all know the tipsy Devdas of Bimal Roy's film by the same name, or the besotted Salim of Mughal-e-Azam or the stern police officer of Shakti, but only few know the man inside Dilip Kumar. To give the world, especially his admirers, a glimpse of the human being in the famous actor, Dilip Kumar is writing his autobiography.
Of late Mr. Kumar has been busy recording his memoirs on tape which a confidant has been transcribing and editing. Now well past his prime and having seen and been in the thick of fame, the veteran actor reckons he has a lot to say that many may find interesting.
"The life of Yusuf Khan may turn out to be more interesting than that of Dilip Kumar", says the legend. While it may still be time for his autobiography to finally make it to the stalls we can be sure that the man is in to cut a dash one more time in his new avatar.
