South Indian actor Chakravarthy's strong debut in Ram Gopal Varma's Satya may have won him plaudits from many quarters.
The actor, nevertheless, did not get a firm-footing in the competitive film industry where fame and glory come easy to those who have distinguished lineage to boot.
Despite his laudable performance in the film, Chakravarthy was still dubbed as an 'outsider' and few offers came his way while Manoj Bajpai, who played the second fiddle in the film, seems to have embarked on a galloping start.
But Chakravarthy is a man of his own convictions. Determined to carve his niche in the tinsel town he is broadening his vistas and donning the director's cap as well.
Chakravarthy is almost through canning his first film Durga as director in which he is also playing the male lead opposite the debutante actress Priyanka. Made under his own banner 'Twenty Four Frames', the film also has talented performers like Sayaji Shinde and Anjan Shrivastava.
Doubling as a director and actor was certainly a tough job especially when it was his maiden directorial attempt, but Chakravarthy seems to have taken all the challenges head on to realize what he calls his 'long nourished ambition'. Now it remains to be seen if his expertise behind the camera is in commensuration with his acting talent.
