Gul Panag, the former Femina Miss India Universe, is moving beyond the ramps and on to greener pastures.
In spite of the Miss India title Gul had to content herself for a long time doing music videos and anchoring travel and beauty shows on television. But finally, the dimpled beauty queen seems to have caught the fancy of Bollywood.
Gul has clinched a plum role opposite Sunil Shetty in Vikram Bhatt’s in-the-making Awara Pagla Deewana. The film is expected to be a magnum opus with seasoned actors like Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff, Twinkle Khanna and newcomer Preeti Jhingiani.
Although this would be Gul’s first acting assignment she is not exactly a novice before the lens and the razzmatazz of showbiz is nothing new to her. But the question is: How much attention will Gul get in the company of stars like Akshay, Sunil and Twinkle?
Yet a little compensation comes from the fact that the film’s director Vikram Bhatt is an actor’s director. He made a superstar out of the tenderfoot Rani Mukherjee in Ghulam. Lets see if he does the same to this dimpled damsel.
