A special trial show of Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi acted as a balm on the bruised relationship between Rishi and Neetu.
In the years gone by, Rishi-Neetu's boisterous love affair, their on-screen chemistry represented love, life, unending zeal and energy, something that inspired the then young generation immensely. The couple's livewire presence lit up silver screens and even non-stories became hits due to the couple's sheer charm, passion and lively performances.
That was probably what the invitees/viewers thought when they all walked up to Neetu after the show and told her that she could have done the role of Rishi's estranged wife, played by Rati Agnihotri in the film.
Neetu was of course her charming and polite self. She expressed her gratitude that people missed her presence in cinema even now. But she also made it clear that she wasn't keen on cinema anymore. She is more interested in emailing and chatting with her children who are away in America and London, studying.
What the invitees did not realize was that Neetu was present at her husband's film trial show when her relationship with Rishi was not exactly smooth. Neetu had even moved out of the Kapoor household and had started living independently. It was during Rajeev Kapoor's marriage that she came close to her in-laws once again.
Neetu's mother-in-law, the late Raj Kapoor's wife, Krishna Kapoor known to be very fond of Neetu, cajoled the roothi bahu and later maybe Rishi too asked her to come back, at least come and see his film, which is a big gesture for a patch-up. Anyways, Neetu obliged and looked radiant beside her hubby.
