With just a handful of films Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen’s daughter has carved a distinct niche of her own. Now she is all set to act in a Bollywood film.

Filmmaker Ashok Pandit is directing a film (titled Meri Zameen) on the mass exodus of about three and a half lakh Kashmiri Hindus from the disputed state and has signed Nandana in an important role.

The film also has Anupam Kher. Mahesh Bhatt will be working as the creative consultant to Ashok Pandit who himself being a Kashmiri Pandit is, without any doubt, the right man to direct the movie.

Nandana, also a New York-based writer and an aspiring filmmaker, came to everyone’s notice after her performance in Gautam Ghosh’s Gudiya (in 1997), which won the National Award for the Best Feature Film. Recently she got a lot of critical acclaim for the role she enacted in Hunt Hoe's Seducing Maria.

As far as Bollywood is concerned, Nandana is full of praises for Ram Gopal Varma's originality and Sanjay Bhansali's innovative cinematic style. Are these filmmakers listening?
