One more problem adds up to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's problems galore ever since he embarked on his opus-in-the-making Devdas.
Talks of the project being a jinxed one notwithstanding, Bhansali is having hard time pandering to the demands of his starcast.
This time the trouble has come from Aishwarya’s front. Ash (who is playing Devdas’ childhood friend Paro in the film) does not think highly of the famous fashion designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla who are designing the costumes for the star cast of Devdas. So instead of going with the director’s choice Ash made herself heard and insisted that Sanjay hired Neeta Lulla, another ace designer, to design her apparels.
The hapless man was left with little option but to pander to the heady demands of the star and signed Neeta Lulla exclusively to design Ash’s wardrobe while Abu and Sandeep design for SRK, Madhuri and Jackie Shroff. If anything, this means double bill for the producer.
Earlier on during the making of his previous film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam Sanjay had met with similar demands (to work with Neeta) from Ash who had then refused to let Manish Malhotra design her wardrobe.
In fact, in a way Ash does seems to be right in some sense considering Madhuri’s discontentment with the dresses that Abu Jani and Sandeep have designed for her. Mads has sent back those dresses for re-work, therefore stalling the film’s progress by two weeks and further adding to Sanjay’s woes. Poor Sanjay, in spite of two ace fashion designers he just can’t seem to satisfy his heady star cast.
