Suchitra Sen's granddaughter Raima has hardly felt the warmth of the tinsel arc lamps. Yet, she is the lucky one to have grabbed the lead role in Rituparno Ghosh's next film Chokher Bali, a period drama about a young widow. Raima plays the young widow.

Raima's character in the film is caught between the Brahminical predominance of the 18th century Bengal and the influences of the West. How this hapless young girl goes about her life and finds her identity forms the crux of the film.

Raima has ample scope to enact myriad emotions.

The Sen girl, who will soon be seen in a cameo role in Kalpana Lazmi's Daman, couldn’t have asked for a better deal. Rituparno, the director of and Bariwalli , is undoubtedly a women's director and working with him would be a valuable experience for any actress.

While sister Riya has emulated mom Moon Moon Sen and got many mainstream projects up her sleeve, Raima has bagged sensitive roles with the best of the directors.
