Although he appeared in guest roles twice earlier, well-known Punjabi pop music singer Gurdas Mann is all set to make it big in Hindi films with "Zindagi Khoobsoorat Hai" opposite Tabu.
The film is about the emotional relationship between a spastic child and a singer who tries to become an actor and the problems he has to overcome in the process.
Talking about his attempt in Hindi, Mann who produced an award winning Punjabi film "Shaheed-E-Mohabbat Bhoota Singh" says "Life by itself is beautiful. It all depends on how you look at it. My wife Manjit Mann, who is also a Punjabi film actress till a few years ago, has conceived the subject in collaboration with Sooraj Sanim, Keeping me in mind, since she knows that I have met a lot of spastic children, who used to throng my concerts, in wheel chairs, all over the world."
Reasoning about the decision to settle for Tabu, Mann said she has the ability to excel in any kind of role and display different facets as an actress and the choice first came from his wife Manjit who could not think of any other actress capable of doing justice to her character.
Chandini, the little girl who appeared in Parle-G biscuit ad., acts in the film as the spastic child. Mann sent her to the Dilkush School in Juhu, Mumbai where she had to stay a month observing spastic children.
The films in which Mann acted earlier briefly were Boney Kapoor's "Sirf Tum" and "Shaheed Uddham Singh".
Besides Mann and Tabu, the film stars Divya Dutta, Ashish Vidyarthi and Rajat Kapoor in key roles.
