Movie buffs have seen Amitabh Bachchan in a bewildering variety of roles on screen. But now in the Big B's kitty is a role that could easily be dubbed as “the role of his life”.

Yes guys, it is official. The Big B will play Lord Indra (the King of Devas) in debutant director Arjun Sajnani’s film “Agni Varsha”. The film is based on famous Kannada playwright Girish Karnad’s play on an episode from the epic Mahabharata known as the myth of Yavakri.

Macho man Jackie Shroff, South-Indian star Nagarjuna, ravishing Raveena Tandon and nimble-footed Prabhu Deva play other important roles in the film.

Sajnani has known Big B from their college days. Therefore it wasn’t too difficult for him to convince the man into playing the role in his film.

“The casting in “Agni Varsha” had to be precise and I don’t think anybody but Big B could do justice to the role of Lord Indra,” says Sajnani. Ask him whether Lord Indra in the film will be shown sporting a goatee, Sajnani says with a smile he will either try to “camouflage it” or “may show him with a full beard”.

Sajnani has already staged a couple of plays based on the same story and won acclaim for his skill. Now he is making history by getting the Badshah of Bollywood to play Lord Indra.
