Three years in the tinsel town and Sanjay Suri is still waiting to make his mark under the arc lamps. Unfazed by the slow start, Sanjay is now pinning hopes on his forthcoming films to carve himself a niche.
At present Sanjay is looking forward to the release of his next film “Daaman”, which he believes will establish his credentials as a serious actor.
In the film he plays brother-in-law to Raveena who is the victim of the atrocities of her sexually sadist husband Sayaji Shinde. Although Sanjay’s character is aware of the intense pain his bhabhi goes through, he gags up because he does not want to interfere in his brother's marital life.
“He is the only one in the house who sympathize with her,” says Sanjay about his role in the film. He further elaborates that his role is a finely etched character role and not one of the usual ‘just-for-the-heck-of-it’ roles.
Sanjay had hit the Bollywood trail with the inconsequential film “Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi” and couldn’t taste success even in his second film “Tera Jaadoo Chal Gaya.”
However, his good looks and eloquence caught the attention of some Bollywood directors. As a result, Sanjay has bagged the lead role opposite talented Tabu and Sushmita in Meghna Gulzar’s directorial debut “Filhaal”. Although he has some marginal roles in films like “Chalo Ishq Ladaien” ( with Govinda and Rani Mukherjee) he is not much excited about them.
But right now, he is keeping his fingers crossed as “Daaman” goes 70mm this coming Friday.
