Sunil 'the brawny' Shetty has created a real scoop by helping the cricketers Ajay Jadeja, Vinod Kambli and Mohinder (Jimmy) Amarnath hop aboard the tinsel town bandwagon.
According to the buzz Sunil has promised Jimmy Amarnath an important role in one of the films to be made under the label of his production company, Popcorn Entertainment. The yet-to-be titled film will be directed by E. Niwas, one-time assistant to Ram Gopal Varma, and may or may not have Shetty in its cast.
Sunil has also used his good offices to help the bald pated Kambli test the tinsel waters for director Ravi Dewan's film "Annarth". The film will have Sunil playing the male lead along with the likes of Ashutosh Rana and Mukesh Rishi. Ravi Dewan, film's director and producer, also has the plans to tab on Kambli's singing potential by making him sing a song in the film.
Shetty believes that "Kambli has a pretty good sense of humor and anyone with that attribute is usually a good actor."
It seems Sunil Shetty is on a mission to induct cricketers into the world of 'lights-camera-action'. Just recently he ushered the ousted cricketer Ajay Jadeja into the big bad world of Bollywood (Ajay will co-star Sunil in debutant director Yusuf Khan's "Deewangi"). And now he is propping Kambli and Amarnath to begin a fresh innings under the arc lamps.
Ask Sunil about this altruistic act of his and he says that he is "only attracting new talent into the industry". Besides he says that all of them are his good friends and he has played cricket with them many times.
