No more bimbette roles for Rinke Khanna

Rinke Khanna decides to say ‘No’ to bimbette roles. The younger sister of Twinkle Khanna, Rinke has failed to make her mark ever since she took plunge in tinsel waters. Bored of whatever little bump grind she has been into Rinke is now digging roles with substance.

The petite Khanna girl says she has never been obsessed with playing the Barbie doll roles that want you to be dressed skimpily and look pretty whenever the word action is called. “Some part in me just refuses to play bimbo,” concedes Rinke.

Well, if that is the case what was it we saw in her debut film “Pyar Mein Kabhie Kabhie” and later on in “Jis desh mein Ganga Rehta Hai”? While Rinke brushes off her dismal debut as a “career mistake” she justifies her role in the second film as her willingness to work with the master comedian Govinda.

Presently Rinke is looking forward to her next film “Mujhe Kuchh Kehna Hai” in which she co-stars with the newcomer Tusshar Kapoor and the lanky lass Kareena Kapoor. This Satish Kaushik-directed film has Rinke playing sister to the film’s hero (played by Tusshar). In the film when Tusshar is unable to express his love to Kareena, it is his sis (Rinke) who comes to his rescue.

Although her role in “Mujhe Kuchh..” is a small one Rinke is not complaining. She rather believes that it is a “fabulous role” and thinks high of the film’s director Satish.

Meanwhile her newfound penchant for the sensible roles has already got Rinke a couple of challenging character-roles. She has comfortably bagged a plum role in Ram Gopal Varma’s “Company” opposite the likes of Ajay Devgan and the Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. And she will also get a fair chance to test her histrionics in Padam Kumar’s “Supari” opposite Rahul Dev and Nandita Das. These films, Rinke is confident , will mark her transition from a foot-stomping teenybopper to an actress of sensibilities.

But currently Rinke has her fingers crossed for the box-office fate of “Mujhe Kuchh..”.
