Indian Filmmaker Rajeev Nath seems to have pulled off a coup of sorts by roping in “Titanic” heroine Kate Winslet to play Mother Teresa in his next film.
Even as Rajeev’s latest film “Mamma is waiting” is due for an international release soon, he seems to have begun shaping his next venture “Mother Teresa”. The film, written by John Paul, will in all probability have Hollywood actress Kate Winslet playing the Mother.
On his choice of Kate to play Mother Teresa, Rajeev thinks that , despite the physical mismatches, she “is ideal for the role”.
A friend of Rajeev is said to have spoken to Kate’s agent and she has reportedly responded positively. All Rajeev is hoping for is to get about 15 to 20 shooting dates from the busy actress.
The rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. The shooting for the film will commence by February next year.
Last time Kate came to India to shoot for Australian filmmaker Jane Campion’s forthcoming film “Holy Smoke”. Then she had visited many places -- from the sleazy dhabas of Paharganj to the shopping arcade of Connaught Circus -- and was reportedly captivated by the culture of Pushkar.
This time, however, she will get a chance to visit the city of joy as Rajeev Nath plans to shoot “Mother Teresa” extensively in Kolkata.
