Mahima tries her hands at comedy

Mahima Chowdhary, the pardes girl, seems to be gearing up for a image revamp. Bored of Bollywood bump grind the lady is trying her hands at comedy in coming films.

The first film Mahima is waiting for anxiously is Priyadarshan’s “Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar” opposite the brawny Sunil Shetty and the talented Paresh Rawal. The film, Mahima concedes, is a “laugh riot” that will have the audiences “in the splits”.

In the film Mahima plays a clever tenant who refuses to vacate the house of her landlord (Sunil Shetty) in spite of his repeated insistences. Determined to evict her out of his house Sunil plays pranks on her but she remains unfazed.

Mahima reveals that unlike other Bollywood flicks the hero doesn’t have a soft corner for the heroine in this film. “They rather hate each other”. In fact there is more romance between her and Paresh Rawal who plays a man smitten by her. That’s were the comic element comes in.

“Yeh Tera Ghar..” is one of the first few films that will have Mahima trying to tickle a funny bone. For she is also working in Partho Ghosh’s comic caper “Mastana” opposite Govinda, and has signed Kundan Shah’s lighthearted fare “Dil Hai Tumhara”. These films (plus others), Mahima asserts, will change her teenybopper image, and bring to fore a more serious actress in her.
