It may sound strange but it’s true. Producer-director Rajkumar Santoshi has filed a complaint against his mentor Sunny Deol for not refunding signing amount for Lajja.
According to the complaint lodged with A.M.P.T.P.P., a producer’s association, “Santoshi Productions had signed Sunny Deol for LAJJA at a price of Rs. 1 crore and had paid him an amount of Rs. 50 lakhs as signing amount. Subsequently, Sunny demanded Rs. 2 crore as his remuneration, which was not in their budget and hence, they requested Sunny to refund the signing amount of Rs. 50 lakhs as they were in urgent need of funds. Despite several promises, when the amount was not refunded, the producer filed a complaint with the association for refund.”
Industry insiders say the real fight began when Sunny Deol announced that he was making Shaheed Bhagat Singh on the martyr’s life with brother Bobby Deol as hero and himself as Chandrashekhar Azad. It is a known fact that Santoshi had announced his project much earlier with Ajay Devgan in the lead.
It may be recalled that it was Sunny who had given a break to Santoshi during Ghayal as a director and the two had done films together like Damini and Ghaatak later.
